Home Inspection Nightmares

Home Inspection Nightmares, What’s In Your Crawlspace? This video highlights several crawlspace issues that most home sellers are not aware of. So if you are buying a home and it has a raised foundation then most likely it has a (crawlspace) access.

Home inspection tips for buyers:

Be advised that not all crawlspaces are readily accessible even though they have an access, there are many obstacles that can block a crawlspace entrance like plumbing drain lines poorly installed, standing water and debris left behind from prior repairs under the home. If the crawlspace is not readily accessible on the new home you are buying then you should ask the seller to make it readily accessible before the end of your inspection contingency period and the close of escrow.

Is your crawlspace a petting zoo? Are there rodents already living in the home you are trying to buy like rats, raccoons, skunks, possums etc. If the crawlspace vent screens are damaged or missing then there is a good chance you have pest intrusion already. Crawlspace pest intrusion can also allow pests access to the rest of your home such as inside walls under bathtubs and in the attics.
